Tappeiner Promenade
Running above Merano
The Tappeiner Promenade is one of the most scenic running routes around Merano. This sunny hillside path offers breathtaking views over Merano and its surroundings. Created by physician and tourism pioneer Dr. Franz Tappeiner, it blends history, nature, and pure enjoyment.
The approx. 10 km route runs from the Gilfpromenade across the slopes of the Küchelberg to Gratsch, with spectacular views of Merano, Ober- and Untermais and the Texel Group. Palms, citrus trees, and Mediterranean vegetation line the path, while gentle climbs and descents keep the pace varied.
A highlight of the route is the Gunpowder Tower with its impressive 360-degree panorama over city, villas and surrounding mountains. From here, the path continues towards Gratsch, with the option to either return or take a shortcut directly into Merano’s historic center and return to the hotel by bus.
Suitable for jogging, walking, nordic walking or hiking, the Tappeiner Promenade combines exercise, nature and views in a unique way. Lace up your running shoes and go!
