Speedhiking Naif – Merano 2000

Step by step toward the panorama

This route is not for standing still. It’s for those who love climbing with pace, feeling their heartbeat, and being rewarded at the top with breathtaking views. Short, intense, memorable. A classic for fit runners and mountain enthusiasts.

The start is at the parking lot of Merano 2000 valley station in the Naif. From the very first steps, it’s clear: you’re heading up. The trail passes Vernaun Castle, where history meets nature. The pace is still controlled, the ground easy, and the view of the valley gradually opens.

Next, the path leads toward Gasthof Gsteier. The slope becomes noticeable, the rhythm steadier. You find your step, focus on your breath. Step by step, meter by meter. The route winds through forests and open sections, with glimpses that make you pause … or push even further.

From the Gsteirerweg, the route shows its sporting character. The ascent becomes more direct, the path more alpine. Now strength, focus, and a steady pace matter. The body works, the mind clears. The higher you climb, the wider the world beneath you.

Shortly before Piffingerkopf, the panorama fully opens: Merano lies far below, with the Texel Group peaks behind. A moment to breathe … and marvel.

The finish is just a few steps away: the Panoramarestaurant Merano 2000. Once at the top, you know why you started. Space, light, mountains. The perfect spot to let your gaze wander, loosen your legs, and feel proud. Reward: a relaxed ride down by cable car, panorama included.

An intense route with a clear line: directly uphill, physically challenging, and visually stunning. Perfect for those who love elevation gain, have little time, yet want a true mountain experience.
