From Merano to Scena
Running between Waalweg trail & panorama
This run is like a good song: it starts calm, builds up, surprises along the way and ends exactly where it began. A circuit full of contrasts, perfect for anyone who wants to run with open eyes and heart, not just counting kilometers.
Start at the Postbridge in Merano. The river Passer sparkles beside you, the Sissipark gently invites you into motion. Find your rhythm here: flat, green, relaxed. The city is still present, but it steps back.
At the Gilf, the mood changes. Up the stairs just before the bridge, you lift out of the valley: the Lazagsteig climbs steadily. Breathing deepens, the view opens. Step by step, you leave everyday life behind.
Along the Schönblickstraße and Haslerweg, you run towards Scena. The asphalt carries you evenly, accompanied by views and the feeling of gaining height. On the Alte Straße Scena, the space opens: the run becomes wide, airy and free.
At the Lifo Scena, you briefly sense village life before the Mitterplattweg leads back into greenery. The Katnauweg brings calm, agricultural landscapes, and the typical South Tyrolean mix of nature and culture. Passing Schennerhof and Schlosswirt, you collect elevation and motivation.
Then the turn: down the Riffianerweg toward the valley. Your steps lighten, your body thanks you. Below awaits one of the most beautiful sections: the Maiser Waalweg trail. Flat, shaded, accompanied by the gentle flow of water. Here comes the flow: glide past Sonnwendhof, let your thoughts run and finally reach the elegant Castel Planta.
Now just a few relaxed minutes back to the Postbridge. The loop closes and you feel it: this run leaves emotions.
Urban start, quiet high paths, rural landscapes, Waalweg trail magic and a gentle finish. Perfect for those seeking variety, panoramas and that “I am exactly where I belong” feeling.
