130th Traditional Haflinger horse races and procession

Easter with Tradition

On Easter Monday, as has been tradition in Merano for over a hundred years, the Haflinger horses turn the Hippodrome Merano Mais into a stage for their skills. This friendly breed, originating from nearby Hafling village, is unmistakable and unique with its chestnut coat and blonde mane. Even before the races, a colorful parade with marching bands and folk groups moves through the town center, creating a lively spectacle for young and old alike.

The event is accompanied by a varied supporting program with music, entertainment and regional specialties: At 10:00 a.m., the grand parade with riders, marching bands, and folk groups moves from the Vinschger Tor through the old town center. The supporting program starts at 11:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. the thrilling races begin on the racecourse!

This year, the event celebrates its 130th edition, a milestone that makes Easter Monday even more festive, colorful, and unforgettable!
